Congratulations on the expected birth of your baby! We want to wish you the very best and encourage you to look ahead.

Most parents in our association remember vividly how and when they first found out that their baby had Down syndrome. Learning that your unborn child may be born with Down syndrome can be a stressful experience for you and your family. Please know that you are not alone.

We at the Colorado Springs Down Syndrome Association are here to provide you with the resources and services to help you navigate through this time of uncertainty. Please complete the form at the bottom of this page and include your name and address, or call us at 719-633-1133 and we will mail you our New Parent Packet, which contains material we believe will help you with this unexpected news. We also have Parent Mentors available who have been in your shoes and can help provide support. We certainly don’t have all the answers, but meeting and talking with other parents, together with the resources listed here, will provide you with reliable sources of information and comfort. In addition, we invite you to join our New Parent Support Group for parents and their babies 0 – 4yrs old. This group meets at the home of a family and allows parents to ask questions, receive information, and form new friendships. Visit our CSDSA calendar for upcoming events, or complete the form below and our New Parent coordinator will reach out to you. We hope that this early support helps you prepare for the arrival of your baby.

We would like to assure you, as we assure each of our new parents, that your child will be more like typical children than unlike them. Your child will go to school and will learn. He or she will look like you and will share your family traits. Perhaps most importantly, your baby will grow to become a complex and unique individual, and will be a positive contributing member of your family and community.

We welcome you to our larger CSDSA family!

We Hope these Resources are Useful!
